Track 10: Dental Sleep Medicine

Dental sleep medicine is an area of dental practice that focuses on the use of oral appliance therapy to treat sleep-disordered breathing, including snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Approximately 25 million adults have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which can cause them to stop breathing hundreds of times a night for anywhere from a few seconds to more than a minute. Sleep apnea is a chronic condition that occurs when your muscles relax during sleep, allowing soft tissue to collapse and block the airway. As a result, repeated breathing pauses occur, which often reduce your oxygen levels. These breathing pauses are followed by brief awakenings that disturb your sleep.

Track 11: Dental anaesthesia

Dentists inject anaesthetic to block sensory transmission by the alveolar nerves. The superior alveolar nerves are not usually anesthetized directly because they are difficult to approach with a needle. For this reason, the maxillary teeth are usually anesthetized locally by inserting the needle beneath the oral mucosa surrounding the teeth. The inferior alveolar nerve is probably anesthetized more often than any other nerve in the body. To anesthetize this nerve, the dentist inserts the needle somewhat posterior to the patient’s last molar.

Track 12: Dental and Oral Health

Dentistry continues to change, particularly because of the advances in clinical dentistry, materials and technology. These changes offer opportunities for both patients and dental practices alike. Now patients can benefit from the advances in clinical dentistry and dental practices can benefit from the opportunity to move their business in a forward direction. Today, there is no reason for anyone in dentistry to complain about being bored, unproductive or at a plateau. Dental practices need to constantly look at the available options. I find that dentists who are taking advanced clinical courses and utilizing technology are re-energized and enjoying dentistry more than ever before.

Track 15:

Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance (though not necessarily the function) of a person's teeth, gums and/or bite. It primarily focuses on improvement dental aesthetics in color, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance. Many dentists refer to themselves as "cosmetic dentists" regardless of their specific education, specialty, training, and experience in this field. This has been considered unethical with a predominant objective of marketing to patients. The American Dental Association does not recognize cosmetic dentistry as a formal specialty area of dentistry. However, there are still dentists that promote themselves as cosmetic dentists.

Why San Antonio, USA?

37th Global Summit on Dental Surgeons & Dental Materials to be held from November 6th – 8th San Antonio, Texas, USA

The City of San Antonio is one of the oldest Spanish colonization of the European settlements in Texas and was, for decades, its largest city. The site of modern-day San Antonio was originally a Coahuiltecan Indian Village. In 1691, Spanish explorers and missionaries came upon a river on Saint Anthony's Day, naming it the San Antonio River. In 1718, San Antonio was established as a Spanish military post, originally called the Misi?n San Antonio, and later dubbed the Alamo. Later in its history, the city became a center for cattle ranching and drew large numbers of European immigrants, especially from Germany and Czechoslovakia.

With a population of 1,144,646, San Antonio is the 8th largest city in the United States. San Antonio is geographically large as well, with 368.6 square miles. The city is in South Central Texas, 140 miles northwest of the Gulf of Mexico, and 150 miles northeast of Laredo, which is on the Mexican border. San Antonio has been ranked by Conde Nast Traveler as the #2 U.S. travel destination, and the #9 worldwide destination. It has been called "every Texan's favorite city," and Will Rogers dubbed San Antonio as "one of four unique cities in America." San Antonio's roots were largely military, and the city continues to have a large military presence today. Fort Sam Houston acts as the headquarters for the U.S. Army Medical Command as well as the home of the Fifth Army. Air Force Bases include Lackland, Randolph and Brooks. There are about 85,000 military personnel in San Antonio.

The weather is San Antonio is semitropical, with the most rain and humidity from July through September, and the best weather during fall and spring. Average temperatures in September are 79.4 degrees, and January's averages are around 50 degrees

Incomes and dental-health awareness:

According to the report, rising disposable incomes of patients coupled with growing dental care awareness will drive the dental equipment market in the developing United countries.

The average net income for a private practitioner in 2014 was $174,780 for a general practitioner and $322,200 for a specialist.

The average gross billings per dentist for owner dentists in 2014 was $646,330 for a general practitioner and $910,060 for a specialist.

Dental benefits coverage varies by age. For children ages 2-18, 49.7 percent have private dental benefits, 37.2 percent of dental benefits through Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and 13.1 percent do not have dental benefits. For adults ages 19-64, 55.9 percent have private dental benefits, 10.1 percent have dental benefits through Medicaid, and 34.0 percent do not have dental benefits. For adults ages 65 and older, 25.9 percent have private dental benefits, 10.2 percent have dental benefits through Medicaid, and 63.9 percent do not have dental benefits.

Fastest growing dental-equipment market segment: lasers

The rapid adoption of dental lasers, which are capable of making dental procedures practically painless, thereby increasing patient compliance, is helping to make dental lasers the fastest growing segment of the overall dental equipment global market.

NEW YORK, N.Y., USA: According to a market report recently released by Transparency Market Research, the global dental equipment market was valued at $5.5 billion in 2011 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 4.7 percent from 2012 to 2018, to reach an estimated value of $7.6 billion in 2018.

The market growth is primarily attributed to the advancement in diagnostic and treatment technologies, such as dental lasers, leading to faster healing, minimal pain, reduced chair time and more precise diagnosis.

In addition, growing global awareness about the role of dentistry in esthetics coupled with increasing disposable income of patients is also feeding the growth in the dental equipment market.

The trend of patients migrating to developing countries such as India, in search of better and cheaper dental treatment, referred to as dental tourism, is also fostering growth in the global market.

The Piaget Limelight Stella aims to evoke feelings of freedom, power, and independence through its heavy use of the moon as an iconographic symbol. Not only does the moon take centre stage in the watch s only serious complication, it also supposedly acts as a totem of femininity, silent strength, and balance. Luxury fake Piaget watches asserts that the characteristics of the moon are often those associated with femininity. watches replica replica watches In some places, this designedly empowering rhetoric sounds a little generalizing to me, but I believe the comparisons are made in a complimentary, rather than patronizing, manner.
